Have you hit a wall with the current housing crisis and the barriers to finding an affirming space to call home? This three part series explores shared housing as a potential solution to many of the financial, emotional, and social issues facing younger queer adults (18-30)! Part one explores the history of LGBTQ shared living, benefits of shared housing, how to find a roommate, and key roommate screening questions. Part two dives into finding that perfect unit, the application process, and negotiating a lease as well as leaving one. In Part three, we discuss the methods of making a joint living situation work long term, including managing responsibilities, bonding through shared activities, finances and expense tracking, house rules, and conflict resolution, among other things. Each session includes a presentation, an interactive discussion, a group exercise, and social networking time to mingle with others in the community. Attending all three sessions is recommended, but feel free to sign up for any combination of the three!
