Farm to You Farmer's Market

August 2024 - Brittany, owner of Beets & Blooms Farm in East Hampton, CT and one of the farmers participating in this years Farm to You program, hosted a farmer's market right at TCC! She vended fresh veggies including okra, tomatoes, onions, leafy greens, peas, peppers, and more to folks at sliding scale prices, subsidized by our program sponsor, Circle Care Center. TCC and CCC were excited to partner on this pilot program that aimed to promote accessible fresh food from CT queer farms to folks who otherwise might not have access. With the CSA program in full swing, this farmer's market provided an opportunity for folks to shop a la carte, choosing the right produce for their household and getting to meet the farmer behind the goodies!

Non-Binary Ice Cream Social

July 2024 - In honor of Non-Binary Awareness Week, we threw an ice cream social! It was great to see enbies and allies come together to talk candy bar supremacy, summer plans, queer history, and more while enjoying ice cream and music from non-binary musicians. Thanks, South Norwalk Ice Cream Co., for helping set the scene with their cute ice cream truck, music, and bubbles!

Benefit Boxing Class at Rumble Boxing Gym Sono

June 2024 - Rumble Boxing Gym Sono hosted a donation-based Pride-themed class benefitting TCC! Instructor, Everett led an engaging, high energy class that kept us on our toes and having fun, and we are so grateful to owner, Dan's enthusiasm and collaboration in helping this event be a success. Together we made over $700 which will go towards costs such as programming and case management for our community center. We love working with local businesses to expand their reach and share in their philanthropic goals while providing exciting opportunities for our community members and helping support the work we do at TCC.

Gender Affirming Block Party at Middletown Pride

June 2024 - Due to the overwhelming support and enthusiasm for our Gender Affirming Closet event in March, the TCC team set up an outdoor Gender Affirming Block Party during Middletown Pride's Annual Pride Event in June. Folks were able to take home new-to-them goodies and body care products, get styled by local makeup artists or take the plunge for a free gender-affirming haircut from local queer stylists! It was an amazing experience to be a part of Middletown's event this year and the team was inspired as we prepped for our upcoming Pride in the Park that next weekend.

Gender Affirming Closet

March 2024 - We hosted our first Gender Affirming Closet event, sponsored by the Leonard-Litz Foundation. This free public event highlighted the need for accessible and affirming outer body care with emphasis on our trans, non-binary, and gender diverse community members. In addition to free clothing, shoes, jewelry, and accessories, folks could take advantage of demonstrations and products from Trans Tape and Beiersdorf as well as private beauty and grooming consults with hair and makeup stylists at Will Beauty. Staff and volunteers set up an alteration station with sewing machines and materials to provide a custom fit for folks in need. We were happy to offer a youth-only shopping period, and all ages shopping period, and a special closed shopping experience for members of TCC's Non-Binary group.

Queer Lit Event

February 2024 - In honor of February as "I Love to Read" Month, we held a special event just for all the book lovers! We started with a Drag Queen Story hour with Norwalk's own Angelina Fierce, who led us through a few books and songs. Then we took a break for a family book fair curtesy of Be Yourself Bookshop. After the families departed, we broke out the adult sips for a boozy book fair (21+) where folks could enjoy a drink and shop books and merchandise from queer authors while supporting TCC. We had an awesome time seeing over 75 people come out to join us! Long live queer lit!

Folks came together to craft, snack, start meaningful conversations via prompt cards, and get know both new and old friends better. Relationships do not have to be romantic to be deep, valid, and meaningful!

Rustin: Film Screening and Discussion

January 2024 - Triangle Community Center partnered with the Wilton Quakers to hold a screening of the 2023 film, Rustin, joined by Bayard Rustin's long time partner, Walter Naegle in an intimate hybrid discussion after the film. Bayard Rustin, a openly gay civil rights activist, spearheaded the efforts leading to the 1963 March on Washington, a pivotal moment in social justice reform and advocacy for the BIPOC community. TCC Board Member, Colin Hosten, fielded questions from community members who had the opportunity to discuss Walter's involvement of the film, engage in reflection about Bayard Rustin's legacy, and explore topics of intersectionality, both in the past and present. Now, more than ever, it is so important to join together to make a more just world with a brighter future for all.
